Approved Used machines, fully inspected, with a 180-day parts and labour warranty from the day we hand them over. Pricing typically up to 50% below new RRP. Same machines, lower spend, real cover.

What “Approved Used” actually means at LLM Groundcare

Buying used commercial machinery is two different conversations depending on who you buy from. From a private sale or an unspecialist dealer, you’re inheriting whatever the previous owner left behind — including the things they didn’t tell you about. From us, the position is different and worth setting out plainly.

Every machine that carries the LLM Groundcare Approved Used label has been:

  • Fully inspected to a 47-point pre-sale workshop check covering engine, drivetrain, hydraulics, deck geometry, electrics, safety interlocks, and chassis condition.
  • Serviced before the listing goes live — oil, filters, blades, deck check.
  • Maximum seven years old, with a maximum 3,500 engine hours where engine hours apply.
  • Documented with the inspection report in the file. Ask for it before purchase; we’ll send it.

If a machine arrives in our workshop that fails any part of the inspection we can’t economically remediate, it doesn’t make the listing. It goes to auction with the defects disclosed. Used buyers shouldn’t be the people absorbing the cost of a failure we already know about.

The 180-day warranty

Every Approved Used machine ships with 180 days of parts and labour cover from the date of delivery. That covers manufacturing-defect failures and the categories you’d expect a manufacturer warranty to cover on a new machine — not wear items, not impact damage, not modifications outside spec. The full terms live on the Warranty page.

For comparison: most used-mower listings outside the trade come with no warranty at all, or 30–60 days at most. The 180-day window exists because we’d rather you discovered any problem inside our cover, not yours.

What you’ll see on the listings

Every Approved Used product page shows:

FieldWhat it means
YearFirst registration year. Gives you a baseline for parts availability and end-of-life forecasting.
Engine hoursWhere applicable. The cleanest single signal of working life remaining.
ConditionCosmetic + functional, in plain English. We don’t grade A/B/C — we describe what’s there.
Inspection reportThe 47-point check sheet, on request.
Warranty180 days parts + labour from delivery, unless otherwise stated.

Pricing, honestly

LLM Groundcare’s pricing on Approved Used inventory typically sits up to 50% below the new RRP of the same machine. The exact gap depends on age, hours, condition, and the specific market — a three-year-old Kubota commercial zero-turn with 800 hours commands a tighter discount than a six-year-old garden tractor with 2,400 hours, and we’re transparent about which side of that line each listing sits on.

The reason the discount works is straightforward: a well-maintained commercial machine has its biggest depreciation hit in years one and two. Buying year three or four — into our inspection regime — gets you most of the working life left at roughly half the capex. For councils, contractors and estate operators running tight capital programmes, that’s the maths the trade has always run on.

How buying works

1. Browse the inventory below. Filter by brand, category, or price band. Every Approved Used listing carries the badge. 2. Email [email protected] with the SKU you’re interested in. We’ll confirm availability, send the inspection report, and — if you’d like — book you in for a showroom viewing. 3. Showroom viewing is by appointment at our 146 Vernon Road, Leicester address. Bring whoever needs to see it; we’ll have it running and ready. 4. Place the order — by phone, online, or on the day in the showroom. Card, BACS, or finance. 5. Delivery is included on every machine, scheduled with you. The machine arrives serviced, fuelled and demoed at handover. (Full delivery terms on the Delivery page.)

Frequently asked

Can I get finance on an Approved Used machine?

Yes, subject to the credit-broker partner’s affordability check. The product page shows an indicative monthly figure where finance is enabled for that specific machine. The Finance page covers the mechanics.

Does the warranty transfer if I sell the machine on?

No — the 180-day Approved Used warranty covers the original buyer only. The manufacturer’s residual warranty (where any remains) does transfer with documented service history. This position is standard across the trade.

Can I trade in my current machine?

Often, yes. Email a description plus a few photos and we’ll come back with an indicative figure within one working day. Trade-in values fund through to the new purchase.

What if I want to view in person before deciding?

Showroom viewing is by appointment at 146 Vernon Road, Leicester. We’ll have the machine running so you can hear it, sit on it, and ask the awkward questions before signing. No pressure to commit on the day.

The honest part

A used commercial machine is not “as new”. The deck has scratches, the seat shows wear, and the next buyer can tell the machine has worked. We will explain what that means for any specific listing before you commit, not afterwards. Where there’s a thing worth flagging — a service due in the next 50 hours, a deck panel that’s been straightened, a non-original blade fitted — it’s in the listing notes. Trade buyers know what they’re looking for; the listings are written for them.
