Approved Used at the Hayter T424A tier

The T424A is Hayter’s discontinued UK-built ride-on — 42-inch (107 cm) rear-collect deck, hydrostatic transmission, B&S Vanguard commercial engine. The Approved Used position lands genuinely UK-built ride-on engineering at £2,195, a price point where alternatives are nearly all import-built domestic-tier kit.

What “Approved Used” means at LLM Groundcare

This specific T424A has been:

  • 47-point pre-sale workshop check — engine compression, transmission output, deck geometry, hydraulics, electrics, safety interlocks, frame integrity
  • Fully serviced — oil and filters, deck wash-down, blade work, belt inspection
  • 2019 build year, 600 hours — within our ≤7 years / ≤3,500 hours category ceiling
  • 180-day parts and labour warranty from the date of delivery
  • Inspection report on file — available on request before purchase

Why Hayter UK-built ride-on used inventory holds value

The quieter argument that justifies the Approved Used path on Hayter UK-built ride-ons specifically: chassis longevity. Hayter’s UK manufacturing depth produced ride-on chassis with longer working-life expectations than most import-built domestic-tier alternatives. The chassis genuinely outlasts the engine; the engine becomes the renewable component.

A 600-hour T424A with documented service history typically has chassis integrity well within spec, deck geometry within tolerance, and an engine with substantial working life ahead. For buyers planning long ownership at residential-tier hour rates, this is a long-life machine.

The tradeoff

Discontinued model. Hayter discontinued the T424A line, which means parts supply runs through Hayter dealers’ ageing-model channels rather than current-production pipelines. Common service parts (filters, belts, blades) are widely available; specialist parts (transmission components, electrical modules) take longer than current-production equivalents. For buyers comfortable with this logistics profile, the engineering value is genuine; for buyers wanting current-production parts pipeline depth, a current-line Mountfield or JD alternative may be the safer choice.

LLM Groundcare positioning

LLM Groundcare supplies Approved Used Hayter T424A inventory with full pre-delivery setup, operator handover, and 180-day warranty. Approved Used pricing typically sits up to 50% below new RRP equivalents.

Built for commercial use. The buyer profile we sell this tier of machine to is the working groundskeeper, the landscaping contractor running multiple sites a week, the council parks team, and the larger rural estate doing its own grounds maintenance. The duty rating, the build, and the price all assume serious weekly hours.

If you are cutting under an acre once a fortnight, this machine is overspecified — we would point you to the consumer end of the market rather than take your money. If you are cutting one to twenty acres a week through the season, or maintaining sportsturf to club standard, you are in the right tier.

Ring us if you are not sure. We would rather lose the sale than sell you the wrong machine.

Mainland UK delivery on every machine, scheduled with you so the handover happens face to face. Highlands, Northern Ireland, and offshore quoted on enquiry. Every machine ships fully assembled, fuelled, oil-checked, and demoed at handover (see “How your mower arrives”, above).

Every new machine ships with the manufacturer’s warranty as standard — typically twelve to twenty-four months depending on the brand and the duty rating of the machine. Approved Used machines from our Leicester showroom carry the LLM Groundcare 180-day parts and labour warranty on top of any remaining manufacturer cover, plus the full 47-point pre-delivery inspection report we run on every used unit before it leaves us.

Service and warranty work is handled in-house at the Leicester workshop where possible, or by approved field engineers across the UK mainland. Parts are stocked for the brands we specialise in.

If something goes wrong, ring us first. We would rather sort it the same week than leave you with a machine that is costing you money to own.

Staged payment available on machines from £15,000. First payment from £5,000, balance by agreed instalments. Arranged directly with LLM Groundcare — no third-party finance company. Contact us to discuss terms for this machine.
